Subject: V3 bikini question

egaeus ( ) posted Tue, 23 September 2008 at 12:37 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 4:30 PM

I am trying to use the V3 Bikini and for some reason I cannot load the top and the bottom separately. Poser will only allow me to load one or the other or the entire bathing suit. Any ideas why this is happening?

Could you elaborate what you mean?  I'm a little confused by the way the post reads.

Well, there are three images that correspond to the V3 bikini in the library.  One is an image of the top.  The second is an image of the entire outfit.  The third is an image of the bottom.  If I add the top, it appears.  When I try to add the bottom, Poser registers that something's there because it labels it Figure 2, but nothing appears.  The top is there, but there is no bottom.  The same thing happens if I use the bottom first.  The bottom will appear.  When I try to add the top separately, nothing appears in the window.

Try this:

Load V3, click on any part of her - just so that she's selected. Load either the top or the bottom and conform it.

Select V3 again and then try to load the other piece.

I don't use V3....so I can't say for sure what's going on, but it sounds like something is getting persnickity somewhere along the way. Often it's just helpful have the target figure selected before loading a piece of clothing to conform.

Hope that helps in some way...at work trying to think of what else to do, but it's hard when there's no Poser to open up real quick...

Realmling is correct.  Select the V3 and add your conforming top to her.  Conform the top to her first, select V3 again and load your bottom.  Conform the bottom to V3 and she should be all dressed.  Once you get the knack of dressing your characters with conforming clothing, it becomes routine.

I have no problem with my copy( I assume you mean the DAZ's v3 bikini?) All three figures use the same obj. and I can load all three into a scene at once and see them.

Does the first Item load whatever order you load them?

I'm not sure what you mean.  But when you load the bottom, does the top vanish from the scene?
if so, then you are using the wrong icon at the bottom of the library list.  Try using the double checkmark instead of the single one.

Doh.....never though about that one! Always forget now that I have preferences set to add to scene on double click with P6.

I thought the same but after reading egaeus's second post I decided it wasn't that. If I've read correctly the items not replaced but though the subsequuently loaded items are listed in the scene they're not visible. (and if the clothing was being misloaded the first item would have replaced Victoria as well

Boy, we really overlook the obvious sometimes.

Ahh!  Ok, well what about reinstalling the bikini and see if that fixes it?  If not, could it be cross talk?

**nghayward is correct.

If I load the top, the top remains, but after trying to add the bottom, Poser says the bottom is loaded but the bottom does not appear in the scene.

If I start over again and load the bottom, it appears and stays there, but when I try to load the top, it does not appear.

I did reinstall the outfit, and it didn't solve the problem.

Do you have a link to the item you are working with?

I just answered this over at DAZ: assuming you mean the DAZ V3 bikini, all versions load the same OBJ file - so there's no point in loading the top and bottom separately, because you'll get two copies of the mesh where you need only one. Load V3 Bikini Full to get the complete suit. The Top and Bottom figures just make the unwanted part invisible.

But what if egaeus is putting the bikini on different V3's he'd need to load two then.

Sorry I don't have the answer. I was going to suggest downloading the the product again as well as installing but I can't see what's causing the problem in the first place. So I'm not sure it will make any difference.
