Got my new Vue 6 to install. And now I'm home from work and hit the start icon..it loaded up no prob. And now...as my heart beats wildly, I enter a new era...ecosystems....yes, its V1, but this is what I've been waiting for for years..the ability to actually have vegetation throughout a scene...

The documentation on ecosystems is a bit lacking, so I figured I would give it a ride...trial and error. After a bit, and a short bit, I have now rendered this masterpiece :)

Yes, its a bit on the simple side, but, WOW...vegetation !!!!! This is priceless !

now to get a feeling for size and stuff...but right now, this is like being in veggie heaven. Plus I can do objects too !!!. Sorry ...I'm sure you guys have gotten over the excitement of the ecosystems way back in V5 Infinite ... but this is all new to me.

I remember when I did my first ecosystem so I know how you feel!  Ecosystems are, to put it bluntly, the hounds hangers.

You'd be amazed at what you can get in an ecosystem :)

LEGIONS  :)

I like BW btw. Its from looking at Ansel Adams photos all the time.
I started out with Vista Pro..way long time ago, then to Bryce 2. My main issue with Bryce was always the lack of vegetation. I bought Vue 3...4, 5 ... always had the plants and trees, much better than Bryce, plus the advanced lighting, but these ecosystems.

I've been reading and looking at the ecos since e-on first introduced them a couple of years back. Never could afford Infinite...well, if I would save my cash instead of spending it on other stuff I could, but now with that 50% off that just ended, it was in my grasp :)

OH..the render times on these simple ones isn't bad ..less than 10 minutes even on my old AMD 3200+. More advance lighting gets a bit longer, but would be ok.

Yes, I teach 3 Vue classes over at LVS:  http://www.lvsonline.com/index.html

There are some awesome tutorials over at GeekatPlay: .  http://geekatplay.com/index.php

Plus of course, this forum is filled with people who love to help, so Vue has one of the easiest learning curves around.

Wait until you start animating your ecosystems!

those barbarians are looking mighty decent :)
Can't wait...
right now I'm trying to figure out how to constrain my objects to flat plains instead of coming out of hillsides and cliffs :)

select a plane from the primitives and add an ecosystem basically

i was trying to put stuff on terrain ... hillsides, etc...like a village on different levels on a mountain. Suppose the easiest way would be to put primitives as layers within the moutain...or create plateaus, but I think it would have to be a mountain made of multiple terrains ?

Quote - select a plane from the primitives and add an ecosystem basically

Use the Environment tab on the material editor - best thing is to watch a few of the tuts over at GeekatPlay.  He just did one on this.

I recommend the book Vue 6 Revealed by Richard Schrand.

And yes aren't ecosystems addictive!
