Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
When does it come out? All I see is preorder and no release date.
BTW only the really cool 3d features are in CS4 Extended. $349 to upgrade for me to CS4 Extended grrrrrrr.
I'm getting sick of upgrading my software. Just when I think I'm ahead new versions come out grrrrr.
Corel Painter XI (Painter 11) is being worked on and a Soon release.
Welcome to the never ending moneypit. :D

Is painter any good? I've kind of lost my faith with corel and new versions after PSP 10 was only a minor improvement over the previous versions.
WARK!
Thus Spoketh Winterclaw: a blog about a Winterclaw who speaks from time to time.

Absolutly no word. head of development posted at CGTalk and made rumblings. No info on Painter 11 features or even when it would come out, though they say they are on a 18 month release schedule so February 2009 seems reasonable.
Is Painter any good? Uh, yeah if you do natural painting/media and don't want the mess of real world paints etc. I love the pastels in Painter cause my dog likes to eat my Pastel sticks, my expsensive set of pencils, gum erasers, and the wax sticks from my waxer. So Painter is really great for me. Have tablet and only have to put the nibs out of sight of the dog hahahaha.
Painter is not photoshop and many make that asumption, it's really different and more of a compliment than a replacement.
That being said, CS4 vid showed free rotation of the Photoshop canvas and ruler following, that's a huge plus to me. CS4 Extended painting on 3d models without uvmapping might be kinda cool if you can get the 2d texture and be able to distribute it, plus 64bit Photoshop.
Course I'd have to buy a new Photoshop CS4 Bible book too grrrrr.
maybe I should just buy a new set of pencils and hide them from the dog - would be a lot cheaper.

You know, in certain art circles, following him with the pooper scooper could lead to saleable art (it's a sad world...;) objects...

Since Corel is having financial problems, avoid any prepay offers for Painter XI. A lot of people got burned when Hexagon was offered at a lower price prior to release.

...and it's got some very tasty new features for once. Gonna be a must have upgrade for anyone whose using 64 bits or does texturing in photoshop. See the feature vids here:
