Hi Everyone, I have been trying for hours to apply a texture to an animal to make it look like "fur" or "hair", and all I get is bumpy looking shiny skin. Are you supposed to use a bump-map for this,a trans-map, or do you render and save and just paint one on in a 2d graphics program like PaintShopPro? Thank you and any advice would be most appreciated. (: genny

Fur is something that Poser doesn't do. You can use bump maps for some texture but you will probably have to paint the fur on post processing in a graphics program to get one that is real furry. For the shiny problem, make the hightlight color black.

You can get close with some textures using scanned images of actual fur but Lovely Lady is right, to really look furry you need to do post.

Thank you Lovely Lady and krakadarr, at least, now, I know I was heading down the wrong direction in trying to figure this out. Take care and have a great afternoon. (: genny

heyas; lynne has/had a fur brushing tutorial at her site, too. she starts with a very bumpy texture to get colour/value variations to work with the brushing. if you need hairy/furry brushes, you can download some at my site (www.3dmenagerie.com)

I haven't tried it myself, but MASA has a fur utility for Poser at the above link, and his stuff is usually pretty good...
