Subject: Clothes in Poser 7?

mandy2uk ( ) posted Wed, 24 September 2008 at 7:37 AM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 7:19 AM

Good afternoon everyone

I feel like a right dumbo asking this but you have been so supportive and helpful so far that I'm coming to you again!

Yesterday morning I created a naked male but can't work out how to clothe him and all the tutorials I've tried have said the clothes are in library/clothes (or something like that) but I can't see the clothes option anywhere!  Is it right in front of me and I can't see it?  The poor guy is getting chilly bits and I want to cover his modesty at least!

Thank you!

Mandy

Try looking in the Props Library or the Figures Library.

Try looking in the Props Library or the Figures Library.

I've looked in those places but it's only got clothes for the female characters (skirts and dresses and stuff)... is this where I start downloading?

The location will depend on which version of poser and which male figure you are using

Which are they?

In Poser 7 the clothes are located

**For Simon G2->**Props library -> poser7 -> P7 male clothes

Poser 6 James - Props library -> Poser 6 -> James clothing

Don - No clothing supplied but available free at CP if serial No supplied

P4 Male - Props Library ->Poser 1-5 -> P4 conforming clothing

Depending what you installed you will find them in either one of two places.  Dynamic clothing can be found in the Props section which takings a little doing to dress. Conforming clothes is found in the figure section and they conform to the particular figure you are working with.
Tell us which character model you are using so we can proceed.  Also, did you install any clothing for this model?

I used Michael 3 from Daz to make him but I still can't find any clothes for him  :(

I installed Michael 3 from Daz and I don't know if I installed any clothing or not!  Sorry!  I'll go looking now  :)

OK, I've found the male clothes now (don't ask me how 'cos I don't remember!  lol) but whenever I try to dress my character the clothes don't fit and they go behind my character!  What am I doing wrong please?

hborre ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2008 at 6:05 AM

If the clothing is supposed to conform to Michael, select the clothing item, go to 'Figure' on the menu bar, click to open the menu and select 'Conform to...'.  A window will pop up, click to open the menu and select your character (he might be called Figure 1).  Click ok.

That didn't work either so I'm guessing the clothes aren't meant for Michael?  I'll have a look in the free stuff area and see if I can find him any clothes in there... thank you for trying to help me!

Don't despair.  You are in your development stage of Poser life, it will take time so don't rush it.  First organize your conten and take an inventory of what exactly you have.  Do you have textures, clothes, props, hair, etc.  Examine each item, is the clothes conforming (it will always appear in the figure section of your library) or dynamic (appears in the Prop section); is the hair actually hair or conforming hair, etc.  Notice for which character the item is for, Simon clothes will not fit Michael, they are different mesh models and behave differently.  Learn how each item behaves in Poser (conforming clothes, dynamic clothes, smart props, etc).  And play with item one at a time.  If you throw everything together then try to figure out what is happening, you will confuse yourself and give up.  The purpose is to have fun with it and experiment.  That is how you will learn.

Poser doesn't come with any clothes for the DAZ figures.  You will have to buy clothes
for Michael from DAZ.

Does it get any easier than this or am I going to get more and more peed off the further I go?

Once you scratch the surface, there will be frustration, anger, and mental anguish.  But along with that you get joy, elation and satisfaction when render that final render you will enjoy so much.  Keep at it.

I'll second that

I'm a noob, only a few weeks along the path you are starting on.

:edit: Having said that, I just spotted your post count and join date, so I may be wide of the mark there lol

Trust me, once you grasp the basic concepts, things get much easier, but you will always find something else to tear your hair put over!

The good thing is?

It doesn't matter a jot, you'll find that every time you get something else sussed, you'll be over the moon, it's very rewarding that way.

And the support for free stuff is amazing... I love this community.
