Subject: Need Help Installing Third Content In Poser 7 Using A Mac

Nitab ( ) posted Mon, 06 October 2008 at 12:20 PM · edited Fri, 26 July 2024 at 6:02 AM

First off, I use a Mac, and apparently the installation process is very different from a PC. I've been a DAZ user for approximately four months, and I have quite a lot of DAZ content. I would like very much to begin using Poser 7 which I purchased about six months ago. However, I've been unable to get any of my DAZ content to show up in Poser. Can somebody point me to a tutorial for beginners that covers this subject or maybe tell me -- in easy steps for beginners -- just how this is done? Thank you for your help.

This freebie may help.

You'll need to check that the zip file is correctly formatted to included the folder information. Most zips for Poser are but I always suggest that it is best to check.

Thank you, PhilC. And may I say I've used several of your freebies successfully. I've downloaded a copy of your tutorial to study, and then I'm going to try your unzip program. Thanks again.

If I download zip files to my iMac, they are automatically unzipped into their own Runtime, Runtime-1, Runtime-2, etc., in my Downloads folder. So I need to use something to insert the contents of each Runtime folder into an existing Runtime.

I use a neat little product called dittoGui. I keep a backup copy of every product and freebie I get in its own little runtime on an external disk, so dittoGui is ideal for installing or re-installing things.

(By the way, have you noticed that the DAZ installers are considerably bigger than their installed contents? So it makes sense to extract them into their own runtime and store them that way).

I'm going off now to find the link to the dittoGui website again...

I can't find the original place I got it from, but if you want to try it you can download it from here.

Just ignore the WinCleaner download buttons!

Thank you so much IsaoShi. I'll give it a try.
