This picture from the return flight as the 767 was a few minutes out of Heathrow is a thankyou to all.

I did receive an email "from Her Majesty the Queen" saying due to our election problems the emancipation of the US colony is being revoked and among other things, we will be forced to have roundabouts.   NO!  It cannot happen.   Visit us and you will not see gothic structures but will find a good people and a fine visit with more than a duvat on the hotel bed..I mean blankets generally, a layered approach to sleeping comfort.  And, our bacon is straight strips.  We generally do not eat baked beans for breakfast, either.  The tomatoes were quite good as was the coffee overall.

I was anxious about the trip but all was truly swell and truly fun and truly educational.  The people were great and we did meet a few English in London, amongst the Arabian, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish working there.   Hyde Park is truly nice as was Kensington Palace. Abbey Road was there and fun to visit.  Villages and cities on our travels of some 1200 miles were fine visits, each and every one with a few surprises.

The days into Edinburgh and short trip to St. Andrews were very fine as was the later visit in northern Wales.

I'm so glad you had a good trip!  But I was sure you would, the UK is a wonderful place to visit.  I'd love to live there...

Yeppie, it was great.   I could easily become used to it all except the driving.  : )  In the first post when I said "my wife was ready to go on the first day" I meant ready to get it on and see as much of the UK as we could; no confusion needed there since she certainly was not ready to leave as my words might incorrectly imply..   

Now, to spend a bit of time visiting in a normal home out of the city would be nice, while not being an impositon.       Tom.

Sounds like you had fun, but if you really want to see real english people, I would suggest visiting the smaller towns and villages next time.
Liked the email from the queen, but she was wrong on one count, some people do eat baked beans for breakfast, it's just that they are embarrased to admit it, but we know who they are.... :laugh:

Sounds like you had a fantastic time! I would love to visit there one day myself as I have a lot of ancestory in the uk :)

Good to hear you made it up to St Andrews in the end and had a good time in general. How did you find the differences in accents across the country? I find it fascinating that in the UK a 50mile journey can present you with a completely different accent! Edinburgh Scots is my favourite of the bunch...

So Tom, the big question I have, is...which did you find the most photogenic, UK or US? (Careful now!)
Glad you enjoyed your trip, I hope you didn't photograph any drunk woman in Edinburgh!
Do you think you'll return? It must take a bit of getting used to driving on th CORRECT side of the road for a change!
