Subject: Help - Tutoral needed for modeling shoe laces

nyguy ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2008 at 1:04 PM · edited Fri, 31 January 2025 at 1:23 PM

I have some shoes I am modeling and need to create some laces that are tied. I use 3dmax 7 but do have Hexagon. Can anyone point me to a tutorial for this or explain how to do this?

One way is to draw some splines, maneuver the points into the knot shape you want and then sweep a circle along the spline, although that will create a lot of internal and backfacing geometry that will never be used.  It does make a nice-looking result though
