Allows you to install poser library objects (characters, poses, textures, etc) without figuring out which files go in which Poser subdirectory. Also unzips library files stored in single or multiple zip archives automatically! Demo in the Utilities section of Free Stuff.

It stayed on my system for 45 sec after it blew out. the install failed to remove it's temp folders and really gave no clear info as to how to use it. and made folders that had no relivance to the files ( I used a zip where I knew the locations of the files should go and this application made new folders named after the zip file not the files inside.

A CR2Installer is one of the 50+ tools in CR2Edit4, with an improved version in upcoming ver5. Dan http://www.neca.com/~dwilmes/cr2edit.html Sorry Win only for software http://www.zenwareonline.com for ZenPaint, ZenTile, ZenGrid and VueMaster

isn't it true that if people who make the models etc would save/zip from the poser 4 directory, one should then be able to unzip right to the Poser 4 directory with all files finding their correct places?

lalverson, Read the instructions. You can change the name where the files are installed. And instead of "blowing it out", you should suggest changes we'll incorporate them in the next version. Bia, Yes, but they don't. dwilmes, I'll check it out. Thanks.

lalverson, We're making a new version that uses the filenames inside the zips for directory names. We'll upload it tonight. Thanks for pointing this out.

markdc ( ) posted Wed, 27 June 2001 at 2:32 PM

ClintH, You can still get use out of PInstall with marketplace files because it allows you to install a directory full of zips at once. Say you bought 5 characters and you downloaded them to a directory. All you have to do is select that directory and it will install them all at once.

yes, I wasn't saying anything against the product...I was just asking for my own information. I have often wondered why people offer products that require one to manually place all the parts in their respective folders. This gets very confusing for new users. For freebees I don't complain...but when I pay for something I don't like it very much... The reason why I haven't bought or downloaded any of the utilities (yet) is because there is no information on exactly what they do and how to use them. The brief descriptions on their thumbnails tells me very little. I want to use them, really I do! But I want to know why I should and, at least, get a beginners tutorial on use.

markdc ( ) posted Wed, 27 June 2001 at 5:24 PM

Bia, You can try it for free for 10 days and it comes with step by step instructions. Give it a try. Thanks.

The problem with simply unzipping to the Poser folder is that you wind up with things like Joe's CrittersNorth AmericanMammalsRodentsMouse, when most people would prefer to set up the structure according to their own pattern. CR2Edit allows you to put things where YOU want. Markdc, I understand your frustration, when something doesn't work the first place anyone should turn is the help, and then the author. Give him a chance to fix it, or tell you what you are doing wrong. I get tons of "It don't work" and it often turns out they haven't updated their DirectX, despite three warnings on the sites and in the Readme. And every responsible programmer is grateful for bug reports, we can't test for every possible system out there, even if the app seemed "clean" at release.
