I had the most awful almost re-iterative back-to-the-drawingboard experience with this one.  Create in Shade 8 for use as a Dynamic Cloth inside Poser ( I am not quite certain if DAZ Studio will use OBJ files as dynamic clothing nowadays - but if so, should also work in there).

A loosely-based interpretation of the robes worn by Chinese Emperors in the last millenium.

So I shall test the cloth settings on my young emperor later.

Meanwhile, here is a front and back view.

The coloured regions are mapping zones for texturing purposes.

I have not done a UV unwrap yet - as some of you know, I am not very good at that.

DAZ|Studio doesn't do dynamics at all, so don't worry about that.  Can you show a wireframe of what you've got?

OK - here is the screencap from my Shade workspace.

(I had to reduce a bit.  I'm off for some exercise in the park - back later.  Both the screencap and my tummy need reducing.)

I'm not familiar with Shade but I think you may want to go with a different structure for your model - those very long and thin polygons are going to be pretty difficult to work with.  Does your modeler have anything like a Weld Points function?  Most do ... if so you can start with something like a cylinder primitive for the main body of the robe, and then a pair of cylinders for the arms.  Take a look at this tutorial, pretty much all the modeling concepts he discusses are very standard.  It uses this method of starting with cylinders and then going on to refine the shape to what you want.

http://www.poopinmymouth.com/process/character_tutorial/character_process.htm

I'm not saying you SHOULD model that way - I don't, for example - but using that method it is very easy to get a shape you want and still end up with polygons that are mostly square, and will be a lot easier to UVmap and run through dynamic cloth simulation and rig.

Here is the textured item, using third party textures from the cdrom which came with the book Chinese Patterns, by Pepin van Roojen, The Pepin Press, 2003.
