Subject: Render Cow Problem

Hello all. Here's a bit of a poser for you. Hopefully someone has a solution to my dilema.
Ok, I have 3 machines with Rendercows installed. 1 is on the same machine as my Vue6 Infinite and the other 2 are on the local network.

Each machine is roughly comparable.

Machine 1 is: 2.1 Ghz Dual-Dual core Opteron w/ 4 gigs of memory running Vista 64.

Machines 2 and 3 are: 2.4 Ghz Quad core Intel w/ 2 gigs of memory running Vista 64.

When I go to render I have all three machines showing up in the network rendering dialog. Once the render begins 1 machine (it's a different machine each time) will do the lions share of work, quickly rendering roughly 90% of the tiles. (say 10 out of 12) The other two machines chug along, struggling to render even one or two tiles each.

Sometimes all three machines gang up on the final tile and although they collectively have a render percentage that exceeds 100% the render never finishes. Any ideas? I await your answers with bated breath.

Create an empty scene with the standard spectral atmosphere and do the HyperVue render again. It's quite likely that the computers will now render at approximately the same speed. If not, then there is a problem I can not explain.....

Some tiles are easy to render, some tiles take hours to render, all within the same scene. It just depends on what they are rendering!
The first tile might be some grass and plants (easy) while the next 3 tiles are water, with reflections, transparencies, bump and objects submerged in the water. That can take a while. In the mean time the first computer dashes past the hard bits and renders the rest of the scene, apparently in no time......
