Hi all,

bet this questions been explained a bunch of times but I cant find a solid answer. plus I am new at this =) I created a custom morph on a figures head. its called "custom morph". now I want to export just that morph to use in another figure. both V4. head has a lot of other unwanted morphs I dont want to import to the new figure. how to I use only that "custom morph" as a target?

thanks everyone.

Well, I haven't opened poser for a while but I think you should do like this:

  1. set all unwanted morph dials to 0 (zero)
  2. set the one you want ("custom morph") to 1 (one)
  3. export body part you want (head) as *.obj and:
  • in the dialog box check only second position (as morph target)

should work.

tried that but when I import it to the next figure it changes the whole head and you dont even see the custom morph.

Another way,,,

If it's just the head,,, first be sure IK is off and hip/body are zeroed.

Then make sure all scaling morphs (chest size, head scale) are at default. Then the full body morphs (skinny) or anything that effects the neck of V4.

File>Export>Wavefront obj and uncheck Universe. Recheck Head only... Check "Weld" and "Use bodypart names" in export options,,, save it somewhere.

Now,,, select head and go to Object>Load Morph Target. Fill in your morph name and then click on blank square to scroll to your object head saved earlier... click OK..This sets a new dial..

Select head and go to EDIT>restore>Element. This should be V4 default again. Now go to your new dial on the head (way at the bottom) and set it to 1.00. This should give you back what you had... Now you can use the REM INJ to get rid of the head INJ morphs and end up with just expressions...

Just did this this morning..

took me a while to try this but I still cant get it to work. just tried a hip export to obj. from one V4 to another V4. If I export and dont include checking Vicki and Hip when I import the morph target nothing happens. if I uncheck universe and grand and only check Vicki and Hip its works however when you move the dial the whole body part moves instead of just the modified area. got everything zeroed out and everything. anyone have a step by step link? or am I doing something wrong?

thanks

Yep. You were talking about a head swap in your 1st post.

I'd have to see what you are trying to do. This technique is NOT ideal for body mods that cross joints or bodyparts. On V4,,, not even for genitals. You may need to use another approach
