Subject: Has anyone actually gotten a Renderocity membership?

Lfnotter ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2001 at 11:26 AM · edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 12:37 AM

Is there a secret handshake I don't know about? I've been trying for weeks now to give these people my money and they don't want to take it. I've talked to Verotel a few times and gotten no help there. I've also emailed the Renderocity's customer service and gotten no response. So, I'm bringing it up here in the desperate hope that someone can help. I'm filling out every field on the form and giving them a good credit card, and still it won't take. I've tried different browsers, different machines, different credit cards, and nothing works. I even tried the electronic check and got no results. Has anyone actually gotten a membership? If so, how? Catherine, I love your work and really want to give you my money, but this is a total cluster fuck. Any help would be appreciated. Bryan

Yep, I got one. Seems to me there was some kind of rig-a-morle put it went through.

hmmmm...I am not sure I even know what a paying membership is. I never payed for anything here but models in the marketplace but I signed up formally and so I think I am a member. Can you elaborate?

I got a membership a few months ago. She has some great textures for download, although a lot of it were textures she'd had for sale (which I'd previously bought already). You might want to check out her forum threads before signing up for a long term membership. I'm sure I'm not alone in the dissatisfaction of how neglected the updates are. She promised new textures every month and it's been far from that, I haven't seen one new texture posted since I joined and I'm going on my third month. Regardless, if you don't have any of her textures, then it's worth signing up for, but if you do already... I'd think twice. By the way, Bia, Lfnotter is talking about RenderoCity not RenderoSity. It's Catharina Przezak's own commercial website.

oh! sorry! :)

guess a better site name could have been thought of instead of using a play on words and confusing renderosity members into coming to her site.

I was a member for three months when it was still $5.95 (I believe it's much more now?) and to me it was DEFINITELY worth it! All the textures I got... If I had bought them separately, I think I would have had to pay about $130 or so for them. I had no problems with registering, but that was in February. I don't know what is going on now. Good luck with it. :)

I've had quite a few people email me asking what happened to Renderosity. "All the Free Stuff is gone and so's the forums, all there is now is some textures you have to buy and a crappy bravenet forum" I knew exactly what happened there:) the Rendero"C"ity is real cheesy IMO. That would be like me starting a site called www.chemicalstudioz.com , www.propguild.com, or even www.curiouslabz.com. As far as having a membership I too bought one but won't be renewing it. I'll check out the forum - thanks for the suggestion. I started trying to get a membership way back when it WAS $5.95 - that's another thing that annoys me about this nonsense. Bryan

I got a membership too about 2 monthes ago, maybe a little longer. So far, even though she states there will be updates every month, the site hasn't been updated once. Like most of the people here... I won't be renewing. It was worth the cost though, just to get the textures that are up on the site. It's a shame, she's a great artist... cute too... just not a very good business person. Either that.. or RL has gotten a hold of her. =( I was really hoping for great new textures every month... but alas... twas not to be...

I got a membership 4 months ago and there has only been 1 update .....if I were you, I would stop trying to get them to take my money and use it for something else...some may think everything she has ever made is in there for download, but it isn't.....I won't be renewing..:>)

She got married just a couple of months ago--life may have changed drastically because I think he was from Poland and she's been based in the Netherlands. I haven't seen much of her since then.

Jim Burton ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2001 at 2:59 PM

Even without the updates the price of the full 3 month membership was a bargan for me, as you can then sell modified versions of the textures, which I did- or rather included it as an extra in the SMV Bustier set. However, I will not be renewing the membership unless I see something new!

InBlack ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2001 at 4:33 PM

Jim can you elaborate a little on "the price of the full 3 month membership was a bargan for me, as you can then sell modified versions of the textures" please. I dont quite understand.

soulhuntre ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2001 at 8:12 PM

Wow... It sure SEEMS like a good deal, even with the price tag... I can grab all the textures, AND release modified versions of them.... "(6 Months membership) $69.95 allow you to use all the material and data FREE from the member area, you can use the all data to create your own textures or 3D works commercial. This License is All Copyright Free!" They claim the credit card signup process willg et youa login in 10 minutes or so. Is this correct?

Robert Kopp ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2001 at 8:47 AM

@soulhuntre Use the join-button on the news-site (others seems not work correctly). this button leads to secure connection (https)and site. After a short verify of your creditcard, you do have your loginname and password (2min by me). Back to renderocity, login and download. Robert

It took me 4 goes to get my valid credit card to work. That was about a month ago. I, like everyone else won't be renewing my membership. Although I must say it was worth it the first time owning none of her texture to begin with :)

Jim Burton ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2001 at 12:14 PM

Yep, I guess it was the 6 month membership!

Lfnotter ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2001 at 12:28 PM

Well, I finally did get in - still won't take my card, but this time the echeck thing worked. Fortunatly, I don't have the majority of what's available - and, more likely than not, I won't be renewing either. To borrow a line from Jeff Goldblum, "Bad....talking website!"
