Subject: Making a Poser Movie in swf (flash format) Problem

CStrauss ( ) posted Sat, 01 November 2008 at 12:29 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 1:01 PM

I was just playing around following a tutorial I saw on line on how to make an animation and make it a swf file then open up flash and import into flash.

The problem I seem to be having when I go to make movie and select make it as a swf file when it makes the swf file it appears to be making a blank swf. When i click the swf to see it shows up blank, further more when I import it in to flash CS3 it imports nothing again assuming because Poser did not make the swf file correctly making a blank swf.

I am using poser 7 and flash cs3, has anyone expermented with making swf files from poser and perhaps tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to do this properly? Is this method not supported in poser 7, I do have older version of poser that might work better perhaps?

Any help tips advice would be appreaciated.

The only time I tried  a flash output from Poser I got a 4 color cartoon ;(
I have tried an avi to flash utility that does an excellent job but cant find the name at the moment . Google should turn it up.

well i know i could render the movie as an avi file then use flash video encoder to make it into an flv and import it in to flash but thats really not what im trying to do. Mainly in the tutorial i was looking at he made a swf movie from poser then opened up flash and imported it into flash and it put all the frames on the flash time line in sequential order so you could work with the animation in flash frame by frame. but like i stated when i render the movie as swf for some reason nothing shows up in my swf just a blank file :( so was wondering if this is perhaps a poser 7 thing cause i believe in the tutorial he as using poser 5

Poser's internal flash-maker simply isn't any good.  At best it runs VERY
slowly with frequent crashes.  It may have improved in the latest version,
but I know it wasn't any good in 4 and 5, and I haven't tried it since.

Don't waste your time with it.  Render as individual frames, and use an
external app to make the SWF.   You'll get good results that way.

yeah i got it to work it does produce a very cartoonie type animation which i guess can be useful i guess in some way. but I think the best way is as you said render the movie as individual images or as I stated before as an avi file and then convert it to flv to use. Just bored today and was trying to get the poser to swf to work.

Not sure why it didnt work before I didnt do anything diffrent maybe its just buggie I guess. Although I would hope smithmicro or who ever they will be next year lol will make it a more useful feature there is a good use to bring in 3d animations into flash now day and be a smart idea for them to make a more reliable method to do this in future releases of poser anyways thanks for the responses.
