Subject: how to have hair display/preview NOT in wireframe ?

usamike ( ) posted Tue, 11 November 2008 at 5:03 AM · edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 8:32 AM

hi !

i don't want my preview window display hair in Wireframe, how can i set this ?
I searched in the user manual but nothing made me found out this parameter.
any idea ?

The more i want is to have a preview window the most close to the real firefly render.

Actually, my  opengl preview is like this :

i tried to swith to Sreed preview mode, but the result is very very different :

You can see there 's light on the skin like my baby have a porcelain/glass skin ! And she's NOT !!

Moreover, the preview is still very far from the final render :

My aim is to be the more closest as possible to this render. And the main problem is that the air is not previewed !!! How can i do this ?
If i change my video card (poor ATI HD2400) for a newer one (like Nvidia quadro FX1700), will the preview render be more close than the final render ?

thank for help or any tips, and thanks for read me !

Select the hair (elements) and then try what is shown in the image above.

That's a great hint!  I knew you could change the element display, but I just
assumed that the hair was sort of innately wireframeish, maybe built from
tube-like pieces.  Never thought to actually look at its display style!

Incidentally, the element display is permanently stored in figure or prop files, so you
can resave the hair after changing its display style, and then you won't have
to change it again.

Tried this with Flo Hair 2, which has always shown up in my Preview window as wireframe - and it didn't work. However, if you select Figure Style and then the Use Document Style option, Hey Presto ! all ok.

Thanks for the tip , you learn something new every day.

True ... if the hair is a "figure" then you need to change the "Figure Style" Display.

Thanks you very much ! yes i can !!!!! you can't imagine how many time that will make me earn !
Now the preview hair is closer to final render !

**By the way nobody answered me : does a better video card make the preview VERY better than now (again more closer to th final render) or it is really useless in Poser7 (no video card can reach the final render in real time) ????.
Does poser preview mode don't take care the performance of the video card ? I read here many people use Poser to design/concept this objects/ and use another software (often Vue) to render. I guess the preview render doesn't satisfy them like i am.

good night (00:12 AM in FRANCE.....)
