Hey everyone. I just wanted to give you all a heads up that I just uploaded the newest version of Blacksmith3D-Paint-Freeware 3.1. It is a true, 3D paint application that "feels" like you are painting in 2D. Paint directly onto your 3D models as easily as you paint on 2D images.

There has been way too many improvements and additions from the previous versions to mention. Anyway, download it and use it to your heart's content. You can even import many CR2 files directly so you can easily modify the textures of your existing characters.

The web site is still under reconstruction so please be patient. I'll be posting lots of tutorials this week. The interface was purposely designed to be similar to most 2D paint applications, so it should be relatively easy to figure out.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!
Konan
p.s. I pulled an all nighter getting this thing ready for y'all, so I'm going to bed now. Will respond to posts when I'm well rested. Please be patient if there are any broken links, etc. on the web site. It'll all be polished up this upcoming week. The software has been extensively tested, but I'm sure that it is not perfect, so please email me (contact info on web site) if you find any issues with it.

Thanks very much Konan. This will be a very useful tool to many people and to make it freely available is a very generous gesture.

Hey everyone!

Sorry about that issue with the missing DLL. If you revisit the download page, there is a file you can download to correct the problem. Please let me know if this works for you.

Do this have something like a "projection mode" just like in Deep Paint?

Passion is anger and love combined. So if it looks angry, give it some love!

I'm not sure how similar it is to deep paint, but after you load a brush texture, you can press SHIFT-V to setup how the brush image gets tiled. By default, it tiles in the plane of the viewport, but you can set "fixed plane" (available in freeware), spherical and cylindrical mappings. You can also disable tiling to simply "stamp" the texture wherever the mouse is clicked.

Yes, there is a freeware version and a registered version. The freeware version was designed to be very useful to the 3D artist, while not giving away too much of course ;)
