Hi there,
There is so much that goes into creating character textures - which is probably why you haven't gotten much in the way of responses just yet - its hard for someone to tell you where to start.
A couple of suggestions - and I'll assume that you aren't starting with any high powered texturing programs.
I hope you have a pretty good grasp of photoshop or gimp and an understanding of the poser materials room.
If not, you need to start there. Start opening up the models and taking a look at the types of materials they have.
Moving on - what I would really suggest first is a merchant resource. Pjz would shoot me for suggesting that but I feel that they are truely invaluable when it comes to being a complete newb in creating them.
After you get a real good feel for what is included and how seams are done and what not than you can move on to attempting to create your own with photo resources, or even spending the ungodly amount of money on texturing software so you can paint your own bases.
Do a search in the market here for merchant resource. I doubt there is already one available for M4 but who knows - anything is possible.
Also search tutorials. There really aren't many good free ones but you can still learn alot with what you can find.
I'm really tired - have been up for way too many hours but I do hope this information helps a bit.

One suggestion I can make is just do a half a texture and then copy and mirror that and paste to the other side of the body. Cut your work in half that way.
Use photos (3dsk is the best source I know) but do some work on them, clone over glossy/hilight areas and shadows so the tone in the photo stays even.Your mat setting takes care of skin hilites in the photo.

Hello Everyone,
I've been a member for a long time, but up until now have remained pretty much to myself, offering a couple of freebies here or there, and buying all sorts of stuff to fill my poser habit! ~chuckles~
But now I've moved on to creating my own characters, and while I still can't do the inj/rem poses on my own, I can still get my characters to appear by ensuring that I just preload the morphs++ file, and then apply the pz2 file.
But my question is this, I would like to create a skin texture for a new character I'm working on for M4, I can see in my head what I would like it to look like, but am completely "dumb" when it comes to making any skin texture, let a lone a high quality skin texture.
Is there someone who would be willing to help a very inexperienced newbie in the skin texture making department learn how???
