Subject: Can't decide which hair to buy... any suggestions?

I was wondering if people could give me input of hair they've purchased and used. How does the Xena Hair compare to the Daz's up-do? They kind of look the same, but it seem like Xena Hair has more add-ons. Please comment on the following hair: Xena Hair Ultimate Daz's Up-do UltraSalon Hair Total Hair Complete & Update Thank you!

I have the Total Hair and it is very good!! Many ways to change and diffrent looks - realy nice. There is also a hair at DAZ - Anton's Poseable Hair - this is for me the very best - I also have the Morphs for it- great !

I have the Total Hair...it is nice, but, takes a long time to render, especially if you have more than one figure. I LOVE Anton's Poseable Pony Tail...with the extensions. This hair changes into so many different things, it is pretty much all I have been using lately.

I have the daz up-do, the ultrasalon hair, anton's changing ponytail and its expansion pack, and a lot of others. If you want my honest opinion, go with the up-do. Its the best looking hair ive seen on vicky, renders great, there are morphs for moving the bangs around to adjust for gravity/wind, and its EASY to use. No offense to Mehndi or Anton, dont get me wrong -- I really like your hair, and its great for some renders. But if I take a look at what hair I've used most, it is definitely the Daz up-do. Your non-conforming hairstyles are a major pain in the ass when a figure is already posed, or youre remaking an older scene. They assume that you apply the hair to the figure in the default position and then pose the figure, but in reality a lot artists apply the hair and props later in the process. I consider myself an experienced Poser user, and I cant see how these products can be labelled 'user-friendly' and 'easy to use', because I can easily see the average Poser user having problems with them. Hair is meant to be conforming. Faced with having to load your hair onto a default vicky, scale it and parent it to her head (or, heaven forbid, onto a pre-posed vicky and have to sit there for half an hour rotating it and translating it to fit right) or with simply clicking the little checkmark beside the Daz hairstyles, I generally pick the latter. Not because I dont know how to do the former, but because I dont have the time or I just cant be bothered. So I'm not saying these arent great products. What I AM saying is that, out of all these hair products I've used the Daz up-do the most. The second probably being the Daz gelcut and the third either the ponytail or the flip-hair (all of which load onto vickys head in ANY pose with simply the press of a button.

I liek the flip hair, but it just looks ... clunky? compared to say the up-do. It simply doesn't have good enough mapping I thin. Maybe new textures would solve that.

Kozaburo has some nice textures for the daz hair, I'm not sure if he has one for the flip hair. His gelcut hair and kaz hair textures/transmaps are very well done.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I really appreciate it. I have looked at Anton's Changing Hair, but to me, it's just too expensive. Not to say that it's not worth the money, I just don't want to spend as much on the hair as I did on Vicky. I'm still kind of debating between Daz's Updo and the Xena Hair here at Renderosity. It seems like the one here at Renderosity has more "attachments" i.e. you get more for your money.

I haven't used any of those hair styles... but if I was to buy one of them (or even three), the one I would NOT buy is the up-do. Why? Simply because it's ugly. I don't think it looks like hair - the bun has a really weird "shadow" or whatever. :-)

I have the updo, and have used it once. It just doesn't do enough styles, and I had trouble making that one work right.

I have the Xena hair (of course LOL) and it's fantastic. Very versatile. I also have the Daz updo and probably won't use it anymore.

I bought VAIRESH's Maiden Hair and Morgan Le Faye Hair to use with Vicky 2. They are each $9.99, which is an excellent price.
