Subject: How do I save cloth DYNAMICS to re-apply later?

I made some cloth dynamic renders that I really like, but when I try to save the newly shaped cloth... the dynamics dont follow along.

Is there a simple way to attach the dynamic file??

Hi Scott,
Save your cloth object as an .obj file and the final figure pose without the cloth.  Clear the objects and load your figure you formed the cloth to.    Apply the figure pose you saved and load the cloth object.  Fit the cloth object to the figure and you are in business.

I forgot to tell you after you reload the cloth object save it as a prop in the prop library.  If you save the cloth object straight from the cloth room as a prop it will revert back the unformed cloth object.

I thought I was going to get some programmer telling me how to cut and paste code.

Or you could just save the posed figure and simulated cloth as a PZ3 file which also saves the DYN information for reloading whenever you like.

But in PZ3 form you cant import it to any other render.

I like the export is as an OBJ... then I can use it anywhere!

Don't some dynamic clothes come with the simulation settings somehow embedded? Is that what the post is asking about? Then the person could use the cape in different poses without having to recreate the simulation parameter settings each time. I don't know how this done.

Actually you can reimport a PZ3 into any current project right from the file menu and it will load the DYN Dynamic information. The down side would be that the dynamics would be on the end frame of your simulation from the previous PZ3. You didn't exactly say how you wanted to do it though so the PZ3 method was a viable answer.

You can use "add morph target" to the dynamic cloth (in your final frame), and then save it. When you dial the new morph to 1, the cloth will morph to the final frame's drape.

Oooohhh thats a good one. That way you could dial the added morph somewhere between
0.0-1.0 and get a range of effects on the cape.
