Subject: P7 + Leopard .. additional software needed?

I just bought P7 for my mac but I'm wondering if I need something else installed. One thing i've noticed so far is that my area render tool's "marching ants" border is invisible if I use OpenGL for preview.

I use P7 and Leopard and have never needed anything else. I have a G5 iMac...2.4

 I'm not sure what exactly it is, maybe my video card, but opengl is real buggy, if my focal length is too big, geometry goes missing and other oddball things.
