Subject: Poser Pro hogging up all cpu time when loading... why?

albertdelfosse ( ) posted Sun, 14 December 2008 at 4:03 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 8:30 PM

I got rid of my old dual core laptop, and dragged out my old pc that has a p4 2.00 ghz cpu in it, with 1 gig of memory, and setup to use 4 gigs of virtual memory. I installed poser pro on it with the new service pack 1 release. Now poser pro uses like 99% of my cpu time, and takes forever to do anything, (like 5 min or more), and this is with just the default runtime stuff. Nothing else added.
Also I have a  pretty good graphics card installed. A ati radeon hd 2600 xt. Any ideas on how to make poser pro work faster. This really sucks. I had no problem with my laptop, and it had 2 1.73 ghz cpus in it with 1 gig of memory,  also set up to use 4 gigs of virtual memory, and it flew. The laptop was a acer aspire 5610.

Got it to work better I uninstalled, and then reinstalled without the new service pack.

you could have tried to upgrade the video drivers. Works most of the time.

Thanks for the info. I deleted all ati software from my computer, and after a bit of looking, found drivers for my card from http://hightech.com.hk/html/driver.php?id=58. Poser pro works even better now.
