Poser content database?? I was just thinking of making one myself.... but if they're already out there somewhere, I'll just sit tight and wait for the pointers.

Daz has 3D Content Database which appeared promising until major bugs began cropping up in th app. I don't know if those issues have been resolved so you'll have to check their forum for further updates. The alternative app, which is the core of 3D Content Database, is Brilliant Database:

You can create record entry templates with options to link records and attach external files.
I've encountered a database based on Microsoft's Access app. Again, the versatility of this db is flexibility to modify and create record entry. This one is a freebie but I can't recall where it can be found.
But searching for lost content, and finally redownloading it is half the fun of Poser! Poser would be SOOOOOOOO boring if I had to remember where all my content was. I actually happen to like searching through my various Runtimes for stuff.

The above links lead to a four-part tutorial on how to create a Poser Database using nothing more than Microsoft Excel. I can't say how good it is, but then no database is any better than the quality of the specifics entered into it, and this one won't cost you anything except time and energy.

I'm doing one with P3do and MS Access. Have all the content folders entered, but not all the subcategories (i.e., the 'Daz People' folder, but not A3/V3/H3/M3/V4/yada yada...;)
Slow going, but already I'm getting the 'hey! I didn't know I had that!' routine...;)

I use EXCELL. I find it user friendly and it does what it's supposed to do, keep track of records. You could try 3D Content Database from DAZ (ps_ap178b) but I think there is a limit to the ammount of data that you can put into one database, so that means if you have a lot of files you may have to create more than one database
I use a nice little app call listmaker. it scans the folders yopu point it at...all my runtimes are in a folder called "poser stuff"
And things i haven't yet installed are in a folder called "poser downloads"
I point list maker at those and it makes a text file..which is searchable use "find".
does the trick and shows the exact path of the file you want. Of course you have to do a bit of organising before you start...putting files into folders called....animals, girls, boys etc.
give it a whirl

BeatrixKiddo thanks for the link! I was searching for something like this! :thumbupboth:
I use the Collections feature in the Library, so I don't have to hunt for my favorite content.
What's nice, I can put all of Aiko's stuff in one collection folder. I have more stuff for her than any of the other figures. I can sense TY2 getting jealous.

I completely forgot about listmaker. Used that program just to keep track of content not already databased. I should spark that up again.
@MistyLaraPrincess: The collection feature within PoserPro is great for keeping track of content already installed in your runtime folder. However, I wouldn't recommend it as an alternative to databasing content. Huge runtime folders simply kills the efficiency of the program if it has to spend time rebuilding the hierarchy everytime you start it.

Ok, so I'm thinking. Maybe it's long past due that I try one of these database programs for my many MANY GIG's of Poser content. What do people use the most? Which ones come with the most content already pre-catalogued? Which ones actually let you load the content into Poser? My head's spinning just thinking about cataloguing all my stuff!
