Subject: Basic object location in Vue 7 xtream

Slowhands ( ) posted Wed, 17 December 2008 at 9:39 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 11:46 AM

I don't know what the problem is. I loaded Vue 7 in typical setup. after everything is ready to open. I try and load an object. the object is - Animals / Aerial / Bird. It I get a message to manualy locate the Bird. I then search for it in. It opens a file structure that want's me to load files from the CD.

I also can't open a scene. they show up visualy, but when I click on it, It want's to search for the file again. I can't find that either. I loaded my CD Extras. What's confusing is they are the same files as what Is loaded from my Application CD. I've never scene such a confusion setup.

Does anyone want to tell me where I can stick my files that will open when I click on an Object or Scene.

The objects and scenes are on the Vue7 Extra zip file. You have to download the zip file and extract it to your: Documents - E-on Software - Vue 7 folder. Vue will then recognize the objects and open the scenes.

Are you sure this object isn't an object that is available online? Is the file physically copied to your hard drive?

If the objects or scenes still don't show up after what Shari123 said, you have to create new libraries. That's really simple: on the open dialog (object, scene, whatever) there's a small icon on the bottom left with the shape of a blank page. Click on it, point Vue to the folder where the stuff is and Vue will permanently add that folder to the load dialog. You have to do this for the various kinds of objects you can load: scenes, objects, atmospheres, materials, functions, etc.

It's all in the manual... :-)

Thanks all, I've finally figured it out. I also coppied my instructions in case this happens again, I will know where to load my files, and also where to search for them. I've had this problem before with earlier versions. But never could figure it out. It is not as straight forward as Poser is. But it is a great Program.
