I'm not sure what you mean by a peacock chair, something like in the link? I have a soft spot for fancy chairs, and since I cant afford to buy all those I like I'd have to make do with virtual ones:) I'd love to try and model one, but (a) cant promise I'll manage to tame hexagon for long enough to get a final product (b) this would be quite a challenge for me, I think I can do it but  I cant promise to get it done before Christmas. If someone else has a ready one or can do it faster, that probably would be better for you, and I wouldnt mind.

PS if you have better reference pictures, post those?

Are you going to want it just for Vue or are would you need it for poser too? If you only need to pose the character sitting on it in poser, I maybe able to do the wicker appearance as a procedural  in vue in which case the obj version will look like a solid.

Hi, I always find posing someone on a chair is far easier in poser and taking in to Vue as a whole but somtimes it can be done inside Vue, I'm not fussed, whichever way is easier for you!!

Hmm... you are a very forgiving and tolerant guy, but I probably wouldnt be that tolerant towards myself if I cant make it:) Anyhow, making the vue material turned out a bit more complicated than I expected so I left it meanwhile(although I didnt give up yet). So first round will be 'real' geometry', which means more poly's. I did the bottom half as a feasibility test, and I think it will be OK. No texture at all on it yet, and it may need some tweaking, but maybe now my brain will let me do something else, my list of 'must do today' is bursting:) (I modeled the cushion before, but you can have it as part of the chair if you want it)

The base looks really good my friend, excellent in fact, I have every confidence in you doing it on this inital viewing!!

Well, I think I'm more or less there. It was a challenge indeed... Maybe some of the problems were due to gaps in my knowledge, but Hexagon not doing 'what it says on the tin' is also frustrating.  I couldnt get a good version of the 'net' on the top part by modeling the geometry. Couldnt get a good vue texture either, but I learned how to do a transparency and bump maps for it in Photoshop and I think that part is OK. I'll have another look at it during the weekend for last tweaks. Any comments are very welcome, but I think I got to the current limit of my ability...

Nowhere, and I mean NOwhere did I find any peacock chairs as beautiful as your creation.

Its proportions seem to be OK - I exported an untextured obj file from vue and imported to poser. with a scale of 0.5% Simon sits quite comfortably and his arm fits well on the armrest.  I may put it (and maybe a poser file) in free-stuff in the near future.

If you add this as a free-stuff item, I can only image the people who will jump on the opportunity to use it! I was very surprised to not be able to find a similar (and suitable) model, anywhere... Yours is exquisite!
