Subject: December Photography Forum Challenge - The Side Less Seen

PD154 ( ) posted Thu, 11 December 2008 at 9:51 AM

Hi Bill I first started out playing a video game called Tripleplay 2001, I chose the Royals as the first team to use, and won the world series with them LOL...after that we started to get MLB screened here on our channel 5 on sundays, so of course by a natural way, I started to follow the progress of the Royals, and have followed them since.

Five days a week, my colleagues and my dressing mirror see the front of this, so I thought I’d show the back of my trusty ole necktie clasp. This is my last entry. Note to Shari. This has been a real difficult one Shari, you really painted the corners on thissun :)

I just took this today.  It's a rather distorted reflection of me in a big gold Christmas ornament hanging outside in one of my apple trees.  Definitely the side less seen!!  (At least I don't think I usually look like this!!)

tizjezzme ( ) posted Sun, 14 December 2008 at 8:05 AM

I love it!!!  Same hat and all !!  Love the artistic feel to this too; excellent one :)

The side less seen... You've seen them in the wild - the desert, the mountains, maybe your backyard. You've seen them hybernating and on documentaries on TV, you may have seen them in emails sent to you...BUT have you seen them on your kitchen counter...dead?

The side less seen - I had so many rattlers in the freezer that I decided it was time to skin and tan them for leather. And so I did. Took me 2 1/2 hours to skin them with the head skin attached and 3 days for the tanning process. I've been working the skins by hand each day and nearly have finished them.

Every year I get at least 4 new rattlesnakes from friends and family and when I have a dozen or more, I tan the leather. I do not kill snakes.  But I don't waste them either.

And you thought my life was nothing but books, photos and flowers...😊

I can't believe this has been going on and I haven't taken my chances at this. Everybody has been doing fantastic and despite the challenge not being as easy as the "3's" one we had a while back.

Shari you are doing great in the forum, congratulations.

I am going to get a challenge ready. Be back soon.

BUT, here is a challenge for Meisiekind, my fellow SA friend, how's this for seeing this mom's backside. Her babies were not far off but I couldn't get them in the picture.

This was captured from the top of a huge pivotal irrigation boom, looking down on the ready to be harvested wheat below. I am trying to take heed of Joe's valid comment earlier.

Hi Carin, How did we miss commenting on the three little pigs? I like 'em too. You and Piet obviously found different but similar ones...both good. Reminds me of the old saying about getting the south end of a north bound cow...or something like that.

Like all the entries over the past three pages...must say I do kind of favor L8RDAZE's shot...who can beat that cute face at the up end of the cup? Unfair competition here :-)

Well I don't know there are so many clever shots, empty fountains, animal rear views,  some brilliant reflections, the natural fractal fungi, snakes alive, forest snapper, smashed rear view mirror. I've gotta get out more. OK , heres a side less seen, except by me; "My  Utidy Inner Sanctum"

Well I've finally found one scene that I thought might fit the cryteria for this challenge. Usually the lights are clearly seen, but when I came home tonight I found these ones delightfully trying to be unseen.

: )

Lots of interesting posts here, I was particularly intrigued by the snakes on the counter, although even if they'd been shot in the freezer that would have been a sight not often seen either (at least not in my freezer!)

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...

So where do they go when a photograph leaves you speechless?

Don't worry Carin, it gets like that I did actually make a comment about how Bruce and yourself should now watch where you walk, LOL!..I myself didn't get any feedback for for my Rubbish cubby hole shot, and lone Shari mentioned my tie pin :( but there ya go, it's all sent to try us :)...I love the submissions here so far, been a tad busy to come into the forums of late, Christmas rush at work, so much to do and so little time to do it :(...But great entries so far, this is going along nicely Shazz! :)

Ronnie, just read you note to Carin. I need to pay more attention. We're all so used to you patting us on the back that we are forgetting that you can't very well do that for yourself...at least not without getting you elbow and shoulder out of joint. And then you'd think you were here all by yourself. Your oversight of our efforts is VERY much appreciated. keep it coming!

Bill

P.S. Like your trash bin and the reverse side of your tie bar. There, see...all is not lost   :)
