What are the best:

  1. Anti-virus program?
  2. Anti-spyware?
  3. Anti-adware?
    4 Firewall?

If you're budget constrained, I have found AVG (free) to be useful.  It doesn't get the absolute highest ratings, but seems to do the job for me.  Did I mention its free?

Just google AVG free.

All you'll get here is personal opinions, not always going to be best!!

For me I use the following:

AVG 7.5 [paid version]
Windows Defender
Windows Firewall

Anti-spyware/Anti-adware   ..  Adaware (by Lavasoft)  or Spybot are good.  They're free at download.com ..

Avast - anti virus
Ad-Aware - anti malware
Zone Alarm -firewall

...and all are free, or have free versions. Again, that's just personal preference.

1.  Kasperspy or Norton... they both catch about as many viruses.
2.  Adaware, it's free.
3.  Spybot, it's free too.
4.  Dunno.

If that's for your new computer, since you don't have it connected to the internet, you don't need any of that stuff.

Hey Acadia. This info is actually for a friend.

I have Lavasoft and Spybot but didn't know if they were up there. I passed this info along to my friend.
