These are renders from Carrara7.  I pushed my computer for all I could to get these to render.  I found that by turning on the 3gb switch for XP and also using LAATIDO on Carrara7 gave me almost 500 mb more ram to play with.  Doing one (either using the 3gb switch in windows or LaaTIDO on C7) did not do the trick, but doing both did give me extra ram to play with (which I exhausted down to 1% before the renders completed).

Here's a shot with rain.

its fun to try different things..but every time I do, I have to tweak until it will render again.

Here is that last image with just basic adjustment --just to the Levels---in Photoshop.

Not knocking Carrara--it applies to most apps--creating the perfect image in the 3D app is difficult and time consuming. You, often, can short circuit this by useing the features that are in the likes of Photoshop type aps.

You may not think they are what you intended but here is just a quick example of Levels and Shadow/Highlight adjustments made to your first image in Photoshop.

Hope of some learning value anyway.

Thanx for the comments all.

I'm just trying various un-altered Carrara images.  Here's another one.  I'm about to reach my limit with experimenting with this scene.

Again, not a criticism. Just trying to show the depth of added information which can be obtained via say Photoshop which is almost impossible to pre-plan/organise within most 3d apps without huge time consuming trials.

This example is only using the Shadow/Highlight adjustments in PShop.

thanx all Here's the final one I'm doing for this scene.

I'm hitting too many bugs, mostly with the replicator.

Can someone confirm that if you have a surface replicator and duplicate it, that you can not change the material on the replicated object?  I've tried a lot of different ways...from duplicating the replicator and then applying the objects, to duplicating--then promoting to master, to copy paste.  All cause one error or another.  And then...even if I do finally get it to do it, when I save the file, it goes back to the material before.

I dont have this problem with C6.

Im also finding that I cant move a duplicated replicator...or at least it doesnt show as moved in the preview.

and also the render preview frame doesnt show.  I've tried a lot of different settings on my video card, and it just shows as a broken up frame, not a complete one.

still, its a great program.  I think I'll move on to another subject to do test renders on now.

:)
