Subject: Poser / Winzip problem

Wondering if anyone has encountered this.  Winzip will extract files to any other file on my computer except for Poser 7.  When i try to unzip to poser I get a message that reads:

Access Denied.  Unable to creat file c:/programfiles/efrontier/poser7/ etc. etc.

I've tried reinstalling Poser, which is an entirely new problem, (I cant seem to get Poser 7 completely removed to get a clean reinstall), but the winzip problems is still there.

Funny thing is it used to work.  Any ideas????

Thanks for any help.

Are you on windows Vista and logged on as an Admin ?

Use the remove/change programs in the Control panel to remove Poser and then delete the program folder for a complete removal.  The remove Poser 7 from the start menu should do the same thing.

Yeah I am using vista as the admin.

Not sure if Vista has the same control panel features, seems like last time I could not remove a program that way, I'll have to double check that, thnx.

That might be your problem.  I seem to remember reading that Vista isn't keen on you installing stuff into the program files folder directly.  Do a search in the forums for it though - ICBW

I'd just install Poser outside the program files folder, so Vista's security measures for that folder don't come into play and give all kinds of head ache ;-)

Actually never thought of that, great idea, I'll give it a shot.

I suppose you could check folder properties and see if something's 'overprotective' in terms of permissions...wait...I forgot...this is Vista...;)

Aside from that, I'd go with the above suggestions...

Switch off UAC!

I unzip direct to Poser 7 every time in Vista, no issues!

Injustice will be avenged.

UAC???  Not sure what that is, but the problem is solved.  If I open winzip and run as administrator, I can then extract to Poser.  Now to clean up the mess I have from deleting and reinstalling Poser in Vista.  Thanks for all the suggetions gang.  :)
