Subject: Vue7 Inf rendercows won't upgrade, says archive is corrupt

hobepaintball ( ) posted Sat, 10 January 2009 at 5:57 PM · edited Mon, 10 February 2025 at 2:07 AM

Vista64bit Cows won't auto upgrade, is there a way to manually upgrade them? I got one to upgrade to 7.1 by uninstalling 7.2 but the other 2 won't upgrade to either build.
And just to be clear, if I want to render on my 2 cows and the main PC, it must have a cow running on it too. The instructions are very unclear here, as well as their insistance that rendercows use standalone renderer, when they use the choice under that of hypervue, what's up witht that?

Thanks

John

I can't help you with the upgrading problem, but yes if you want the main PC to render along wioth the others it also needs to run a Render Cow. The HyperVue program just deals out the work and collects the results.

Thanks, that's what I was trying, but no love on the upgrade.

I already had this message with Vue 6 when I added a new machine, and I restarted the whole thing and it got working. Maybe just try again.

Not this time; there is a bug in the 64 bit systems that is blocking rendercow function and updating. They're working on it.......

So let's see, I tried upgrading 10 times it failed each time, well sometimes it looked like I was going to get 2 of the 4 on the same version and overnight, POW, they are all at 7.2now! Your encouragement that sometimes if you try long enough it will upgrade worked.
Unless i turn off user controls (Vista64) I can't put them in startup, but I will live with this limitation, I don't trust the internet, or computers connected to it very much. You must, must, run them as administrator in compatibility tab, but I had done that early in the process.
