Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 18 10:25 pm)
That problem is due to Vistas user account control (UAC) and the virtual store it uses for users not allowed to write to the program files folder together with people with runtime in the program files folder.
You probably need to remove the folders from
AppDataLocalVirtual StoreProgram Files...
too.
Running the explorer window you're using to move files around the runtimes with administrator rights might help prevent that problem (or switching UAC off). But I don't store my runtimes and Poser installations outside the affected folders, so I may be wrong.
I've verified that the folder is in fact gone from vista's file system. I can open the runtime folder look at the place where it was and it is simply not there. However, when I open poser, I see it. I just noticed that it seems that not every folder I move does this. It actually seems to be just the folders installed using DAZ installers for things like the base M3 figure, V3 figure, V3's official mat poses, ect...
Ah ha! I found that in addition to the normal runtime located within my program files, poser has another runtime folder where it stores some things like the png icon's for some things located at:
C:Usersuser's nameAppDataLocalVirtualStoreProgram FilesSmith MicroPoser ProRuntime
When I moved things inside the runtime in my program files, poser still found the folders for the icons and such in the other runtime. It works just fine as long as I move the files in both runtimes. Really weird...

As I've installed more and more content into poser pro, I've found the need to reorganize my runtime. Unfortunately, I've found that sometimes when I move a folder in the runtime folder, poser doesn't notice that I've moved it and while the folder goes where I move it to, poser leaves an empty folder where it used to be. I've verified that the old folder no longer exists inside of the runtime files on my comp so poser must be keeping info about what files should exist that I'll need to edit or something. Can anyone point me in the right direction? THANK!
