Subject: Poser4 re-install question

Hello, My poser4 just when bad. When I click on Poser4 on the desktop, I get a flash of grey and then back to my desktop. It will not load. I guess I will have to re-install it. My question is: Do I have to take out all the files I have put in myself? (quite a few) Or does anyone know of any troubleshooting to find out why it is not loading? Thanks Bill Conn

You should be able to reinstall over the original install. Your files which you installed should sti;ll be there. The reinstall will just overwrite the original poser files. If that dosen't cure the problem you will have to go the uninstsall route in which case you will probably lose your other files you installed. Ralph

Poser is pretty cool in that the models and textures are visible just by placing them in the proper directory structure. As they say above, reinstalling is probably all you need to do. But, to be safe, (if you have enuf room) you could save the entire runtime structure. Then you could copy it back after the reinstallation. A really cool program I use for directory synchronization is FileSync. Shareware. You can see it at http://www.fileware.com/

Ah, that question I asked about down the line. I was able to install both times and everything was intact (I did have it backed up for the most part though). However, I have copied my .rsr after Tina (?) suggested it. BTW, does anyone have any idea why this happens? Diane

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I made a backup copy of "my files", re-installed Poser, it did not knock out my files, and I made a copy of poser.rsr. It now works great. Thanks again. Bill

Diane, it couldn't be a bug. Poser4 doesn't have any bugs. If it did, Metacreations would have issued a patch a long time ago.
