Subject: Windows 7 and Poser 7 - Review

nyguy ( ) posted Fri, 16 January 2009 at 7:51 AM · edited Tue, 14 January 2025 at 8:43 PM

I had installed Windows 7 Beta on my system and installed Poser 7. No issues with the installs of either. Updated Poser 7 to the latest SR.

I started using Win7 as my primary due to just wanted to see how things worked. I installed Max 5 also and I was surprised that it worked with no issues.
I installed V4 and M4 into my main runtime since that is where they sit in my XP desktop and mapped my external runtimes. I was surprised when I went into one of the runtimes on how much faster it had loaded compared to XP. I did a few quick renders of several things and found with the same settings I use in XP the render time was faster. What would normally take me 5 minutes in XP took almost 3 minutes.

I have not tried many apps on Win7 yet but I do like the feel of it better than I do my wife's Vista system which has 2 the Ram as I and a faster Processor.

My system specs are
P4 3.0Ghtz
1.5 Gig Ram
NVidia Geforce 5200 PCI

I think Windows 7 will be the "XP Killer" Microsoft has been looking for.   Looking forward to it.

Currently running poser 7 and vue 6 on windows 7, works flawlessly so far (with exception for some of the normal bugs in the programs).
Feels a lot faster than vista but might be due to me switching over to desktop from laptop and putting 8gb's of RAM in it...
