Subject: Reaching out to Anyone

'Ello all, In desperation and after years of searching to no avail, I asking if anyone knows where one may obtain a Poser/Daz version of a WWII Hawker Tempest/Typhoon. I've contacted the known aviation vendors to request such. To my dismay the only ones I have found are at "TurboSquid" and those are not formatted for Poser or Daz, in addition BLIMEY! they're over a hundred bucks !!
Certainly not practical even if I had 3DS. Vanishing Point was a dead end as well. Thanks for your time.  Limeyboy

Although the VanishingPoint model is formatted for 3DMax, it can easily be imported into Poser.  Current Poser version can import several formats which can be re-saved for Poser use.

Sir.. I appreciate the reminder. However I only have DAZ which will import Poser but without Poser the 3DS files are useless to me. I do thank you very much for your response.  (smile)

Ah, the picture is complete.  Because this is a Poser forum, I assumed you were posting a Poser question.  Did you try posting this in the DAZ3D forum?  You might get the necessary answer there.  Sorry for the misinterpretation.

That may do you for a one off conversion. Freeware like blender or wingz also will load 3ds and export obj files .

Also,  check out Silo 2, it has a 30 day free demo, and when the demo runs out, it can be used as a file converter.  - runs on PC and MAC

LimeyBoy - at present the VP team doesn't know when this model will be poseried, however If you purchase the Typhoon - I will create an .OBJ file for you which can be imported into Daz studio .

**IMPORTANT BIT :)  Because this would be a personal conversion, the .OBJ will NOT be rigged and the model will have no moving parts. Plus as I don't use studio you'll be responsible for using it within studio.

** If you're interested just IM me your order reference number, you'll get the converted file within 24-48 hours.

BLIMEY!! Thank You all for being so very helpful.I apologize for the intrusion in the Poser forum yet the personal attention is most gratifying !!

Perhaps I'm missing something here? I have tried Blender and others. Unfortunately DAZ must have a particular persona as once the Obj is loaded from a 3DS conversion, The mesh is askew. that is to say parts such as gear, flaps etc are all over the place and cannot be transitioned individually. This also is the case with Max, LWO and older obp's. That's how DAZ forces you to purchase their items which as far as aviation goes is less than limited indeed lol. MrSparky, I will contact you and many Thanks again to all of you !!

What programme you are using to convert from 3ds to OBJ ?

it sounds like the conversion process or studio import is screwing up the OBJ's groups.

I've seen this happen before -notably with some older versions of Wirefusion - and sometimes the trick is to use an app that create a single OBJ file. Thats one where everything is one single group.

You can use UVmapper to do this - select Export as Single Group when saving the model.

With wirefusion I used to use Grouper (link above) to fix things. Thats free if you don't have UVmapper.
