Subject: Rendering Going Crazy

vampchild ( ) posted Thu, 22 January 2009 at 8:27 AM · edited Fri, 01 November 2024 at 11:09 PM

Need help-hope for easy answer. When I set up a
scene with characters and a room, all looks ok.
But when I render the scene, the floor is always
up around the characters legs. This is in P6. What
am I doing wrong?

Select your charachter then go up to the menu and "Find drop to the floor"

Also, check to see that the room itself is at zero elevation.  The characters might be on the ground plane properly, but the room itself may be elevated too high.

You can try selecting the front or side camera and go to wireframe display. It should be obvious if the floor isnt at the ground plane.  Once thats sorted you can go back to the main camera (or whichever you are using) and texture display to render .

I've had that happen with a certain prop, too. It didn't appear at the right position in Open GL mode but correctly using SreeD (or the other way round). Try switching between those.

It could also be that the floor is bloated because of smooth polygons...

I would suggest unchecking Smooth Polygons. It sounds like that is the issue.

Just to check: This doens't happen when you render anything on Poser's default ground plane, right? It's only when you use some other kind of floor?

Thanks for info- these renders drive me crazy. It is good to
have friends that have seen this before. I'll start testing the
polys before rendering. Once again Thanks!
