Subject: Export Parameters to File

Hi, Is it possible to export a figure's parameters from Poser to an ASCII file? I'd like to pull this info into a spreadsheet and create poses and movement based on mathematical equations. Of course, I would then import it back into Poser. Would I need Pro Pack for this?. PF

Yes, you could do that with a PoserPython script. You will need the Pro-Pack.

One second thought, you really don't need the Pro-Pack. You could just save a .pz3 and use any old programming language to extract the information you want. After the changes, you'd have to re-assemble a valid .pz3 to open in Poser. The PoserPython script would be useful if you wanted to get the settings on the fly and write them back to the figure without a .pz3 file. Sorry for the double post. ;-)

bushi is right. Open the PZ3 in a text editor to see what's what. The "keys" sections show parameter values, including animated parameters. Some of the other file types also can contain animated parameters. I once wrote a program to write a CM2 file to produce the camera motion I wanted.

Get the propack. The money spent will be well worth the time saved and the increased capability. You would be able to put your math model in the script and generate the movements on the fly rather than file export, manip, reimport and then testing.
