Subject: Looking for a Few Great Model Packages

Norski ( ) posted Mon, 26 January 2009 at 4:44 PM · edited Fri, 24 January 2025 at 5:15 AM

(I'm new here - so if this is an inappropriate topic for this forum, my apologies.)

I've been asked to build a neighborhood. Several, actually.

A virtual neighborhood, of course.

To save time, I'm looking for 3D models and textures, so I don't have to create everything from scratch.

The setting is somewhere in the United States, which isn't as restrictive as one might think.

Help!

Who knows where I can find packages (preferably in obj format) of

Vehicles
Houses
Storefronts
Sidewalks
Streets
Trees
Bushes and shrubs
Plants and flowers
Lawn ornaments, tacky and otherwise
Traffic signs and lights
Street lighting fixtures
Billboards, boxes, assorted bric-a-brac and clutter
People
Textures (concrete, asphalt, dirt, grass, gravel, shingles, stucco, tiles, wood -  any surface that might be visible)

Thanks in advance

www.cgtextures.com is a image texture site.

try freestuff here and see if the stuff is good enough for your needs .  Any poser stuff should have an obj file .

Hey,
Most models here are in 3ds or MAX format, but there are a lot of them.

I think VanishingPoint have a lot of the stuff your asking about, so you could look through their catalogue (I've linked one item at CP, but htey do have items in the MP here, but it's a limited selection compared to CP or their own site).

All,

Thank you very much - I greatly appreciate the specific detail and URLs. And, will follow up on each/all.

muralist has a typical highway diner, including environment here in the marketplace: Celeste's Diner.
And Stonemason (at www.daz3d.com) has a couple of street sets that might be useful.

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
