Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 27 2:49 pm)
Be sure that the obj is at the right size and place before you save it as a prop. In other words, import your prop. Scale it. Place it. Then EXPORT it once again with all options unchecked. And import that new, rescaled and repositioned obj and save THAT as a prop. This will make the now stripped PP2 behave :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
one note on displacement of your object (mea culpa). I tried moving an object into Poser once, and it appeared miles (well, like 50 poser units or something) away. Found out I'd left a 'bit' of geometry a long way away in the modeling program, and it exported both as a sort of prop.
Probably not what happened here, but if anyone else wonders...;)

Hi,
I'm in the process of trying to convert a bunch of OBJ's into props and referencing the OBJ file in the Geometries folder.
So I import the OBJ into the scene and then save it as a prop (PP2).
I read about editing the PP2 file in a text editor to remove all the OBJ data so you're just referencing the object (OBJ) in the Geometries folder (according to a tutorial by JCH Digital Designs).
I followed it to the letter. And saved the edited PP2 file.
When I go into Poser again then click on the thumbnail in Poser for that prop it adds it to the scene (way out of sight) so what I see is a large shadow on the ground plane and the object/prop doesn't appear to be placed in the spot I intended it to be. I have to play with the transform dials to put it properly in place.
Is there another method that I can do this properly editing the PP2 file (removing the OBJ data from it) to reference the OBJ file and have the prop emerge into the scene exactly in the spot that I placed it in as I saved it to be a smart prop? (BTW I'm using Poser 7)
