Subject: stop camera from moving?

lightning2911 ( ) posted Thu, 05 February 2009 at 2:36 AM ยท edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 8:05 AM

i have found that when i add or delete objects the camera moves.

for example i added a huge sphere, which i did not show in the render. i just used it to not have ecosystem populate there. and suddenly the camera was on top of the sphere.

why is that? how can i switch it off?

thanks in advance
chris

In the object properties panel, with the camera selected, you'll see a little padlock in front of the height value, click it to switch it off, then your camera won't move anymore.
This parameter was introduced in Vue7 so the camera is always at the set value compared to the highest object in the scene. So if you only have a ground plane, the camera is at 1.8m above ground. If you load a sphere, the camera will be 1.8m higher than the sphere, but 7.8m higher than the ground.

The camera is just adjusting to the objects it has under, trying to keep the same relative height. In the camera properties panel, untick the "keep camera height" to change this behavior.
