Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 30 5:12 am)
I havnt had that happen to me (and I did play around quite a bit with the new water) so I cant explain it. But I may have a work around,if all else is OK in the scene and you dont want to lose it.
Create the water plane in a new scene (you said that works fine?) and then merge the two scenes.
(In the file command in the top menue).

Quote - After working on a scene for a while, I saved and then exited Vue 7 Complete (latest update). I then opened Vue up again, reloaded the scene and tried to add a water plane. Each time I attempt to add a water plane, it just increases the altitude of the ground plane without adding anything. Anyone else had this one come up? I tried it with a new test scene and everything worked as it should, its just with the one scene. The scene works fine apart from this, so I don't think it is corrupted.
Hi,
I've experienced similar problems in Vue 7 Infinite and there are several bugs in their new versions. I was reassured that some time in the future, they will have an update that will fix all ot these. Until then, we're left fighting with this software in order to try and get it to work properly which in my mind, is not right! Sometimes when I insert a new terrain, it completely strips the other mountains of their eco systems. Oh well, we're stuck with it until e-on fixes the problem.

I have had this problem confirmed by another user, so I know I am not going crazy
I did get around it by using a second ground plane and giving assigning a water material but that of course limits what can be done with it as you can't use the advanced water settings. Its strange that I can add further infinite planes, just not a water plane.
If you make a water plane object in another scene and then merge the two scenes the water should be still editable. But if you dont need the advanced features I guess a regular inf plane would do.

I have a thought on this.
Forget the water plane. Create a ground plane and just apply a water mat to it. IF that works then it's a easy work around. If it doesn't, then create an alpha plane, enlarge it and apply a water mat to it. Hopefully it won't look bad as it ends with your horizon. Still you shouldn't have this problem so I am not excusing the bug but rather trying to find a suitable work around. Hope this helps in some way.
