Quest ( ) posted Mon, 23 February 2009 at 1:26 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 3:10 AM

Anyone know if PDF files created in Windows XP using Photoshop CS3 are readable in Mac?

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Tue, 24 February 2009 at 5:13 PM

post one created in Windows XP and I'll tell ya.  the chances are pretty good, as it's cross-platform.
not mac classic, but tiger or later.   jeez, wouldja lookit how cute that blinkin kittie is

Thank you Miss Nancy I do appreciate it. Just as soon as I get the pages setup for the PDF and get it all together, I’ll drop you a site mail here with a link where to download the PDF file from. It may take a  little while since I’m not yet finished putting the steps in order.

That blinking kitty cat avatar was created using Photoshop. I created another for when he gets angry where he furrows his eyebrows and shows his tiny fangs.

Hey, changed your avatar...very cool! Using motion capture files? I sent you a site mail with the link from which to download the PDF file from. Thank you in advance for offering to help.

yes, readable in OS X (preview app)
hadda change the icon from lil' dubya, as the natives were getting restless 🤣

Portable Document Format rarely fails when going from PC to Mac or vice versa, although Photoshop PDF is kinda tricky at times...

Well, the transition is kinda rough to be honest, seems to skip a few frames in the loop...

Don't wanna come off as an *sshole here, but you must have noticed that yourself, right?

Coming soon

I'm sure she had to shorten the sequence to meet Renderosity's size limitations when uploading the GIF file thus the flicker. Thanks for the info I wasn't sure about Photoshop's PDF eigther so I needed to find out first. Would have been a little embarassing to have claimed that the file was suitable for both platforms only to find out later that it wasn't.

never fear, mike - it'll be gone before ya know it
replaced by a far more professional-looking icon  IMVHO

p.s. I've also had 'em complain about my sigfile and gallery thumbs, so it's business as usual 🤣
several of 'em said my animated gif gallery thumbs distracted from their images, thus forcing the
sys admin (at another site) to ban animated gifs as gallery thumbs.

But you never answered my question Miss Nancy...was that created using motion capture files like BVH, BIP maybe? The motion looks pretty good. I know it could not possibly be maintained continuous because of download limits here but what is there is quite good.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Mon, 02 March 2009 at 9:07 PM

oops! sorry about that, quest.  yes it was done using one of the freebones bvh files from truebones.com
the entire clip was 896 frames, hence I hadda cut it quite a bit to fit in the little avatar box
but it's gone now, only to be replaced by my version of the blue guy from 'the watchmen".
