Subject: Who are the most under-rated merchants here?

There are a handful of merchants that are very well known here. Who are some of the lesser known favorites that never seem to be discussed or never seem to find themselves cropping up as merchant of the month?

One merchant I like is rj001.  He puts out a lot of very inexpensive science fiction models (usually not much more than $5 in price). The downside is that they haven't been optimized for Poser and come untextured. They're very impressive for the price.

What rjoo1 should do is team up with someone who can Poserize his models, or learn to do it himself. The sad fact is that most users here do not have the skills to do this themselves, and he would find his sales increase dramatically should he start releasing Poser products.

I'd agree, but rj001's gallery only shows Bryce work. The images are textured in Bryce. I think the new export options in Bryce allow most models to be exported with their textures. I'm not sure why he's not trying to sell textured Poser models.

Another artist in a similar boat is rodluc2001 who puts out great castle sets, but they're in Vue or Obj format. He did poserize one castle set, but didn't make movable parts movable.

The quality of his work is quite good.

Have you written a tutorial on your process for poserizing models? I know there are a lot of factors that go into doing it from making parts movable to fixing reversed normals to optimizing the polygon count.

i would add poisen's great skulls and stuff objs to this list.
his stuff is fantastic and comes with textures but there not in poser format for ease of use.
he needs to team up with some one too.
i raise my hand for a job like this....lol

Many of Posien's items ARE in Poser format, mostly his morphing props. He knows how to Poser-ize things, he just tries to make things easy to use in all programs, so no one is left out. Not every vendor who sells .obj include a mapped .mtl file to make the import a dream, like Poisen does.

Now, rodluc could use some help :)

I like Poisen's stuff.  His work reminds me a bit of Philippe Druillet.

It's kind of weird, but Poisen's work is so specifically stylized that I have a hard time figuring out how to use his products. I have been keeping an eye on his construction sets and may try getting one when there's another big Renderosity sale.

If he ever teams up with somebody that can add Easypose to his TentacleZ product, I'll readily buy that. As static props, they're a lot harder to use.

I like poisen's work too. It helps to fill the gap of a certain stylistic sensibility that diminished in the store when dreampaint pulled his products, not that the two modelers are exactly the same by any means, but if you know both artists' models, you know what I'm referring to.

the_hankster is a superb modeler. He specializes in brilliantly executed vehicles but his statue and rock props are beautifully detailed too.

For years quim2001 provided fantastic character/texture sets although he seems to have either slowed down considerably on releases, or is no longer making anything new, not sure, but his legacy products that are still in the store are great.

Also for character originality, odegami scores big points for his "Rikishi" figure and its accessories.

Unfortunately many of my favorite content providers from the not-so-distant past have either left, or have had many of their best (or in some cases all of their) products removed possibly due to lagging sales. I'm thinking of people like toshiyo, TT, B-man, Mechanismo, Ecstacy etc.

With some of the "survivors" it's just so weird to look at what's left of their stores, and to see the truly superior work completely gone. So it goes as time marches on, I suppose...
