I fixed Compaq Laptops from '88-97'. They're pretty stable, although I mainly worked on business-oriented models.
Compaq was bought by HP a couple years back. I didn't know they still had their own brands, but they're usually reliable.
Acer I don't know that well. I think they're usually 'entry-level' machines, but I think I've only seen a couple.

look into acer or compaq.. which one? I'm not so sure if it reads you isp and translates the value whatever currency you at. I'm targeting for 30-38 thousand rupees...
