Subject: February Challenge - INTENSITY

tresamie ( ) posted Sun, 08 February 2009 at 11:20 PM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 7:03 PM

Hi Everyone!

Here are mamabobbijo's thoughts about the February Challenge.

I think since February is always connected with hearts and flowers, we should switch it up, but still tie in. Love is an incredibly intense emotion. How about we have a challenge about intensity. The possibilities are endless!
Intense colour, feeling, amount of hours in a piece, whatever the word brings up in your mind. Hope the entries are as varied as possible.

I think this will be a fascinating challenge!   The challenge is for everyone, regardless of their creative tools.  Everyone can enter, whether they are using 2D, 3D, fractal, animation or any other software;  whether they are photographers, writers or even musicians.  The challenge arena is open to all.  Come and join in, test your creative tools against all the others!

The Challenge begins immediately and will close to entries at the end of February.  I will give you a few days notice.  All entries will be to this thread or with a link to a larger image. Voting will begin then in the same thread.

You may enter an existing work if you like, but we would prefer to see a new work created for this challenge... it IS a challenge after all, lol!  You may enter more than one work, but remember that in the voting, each entry will be judged separately. If you choose to enter more than once, please NAME EACH OF YOUR ENTRIES!

Go and create!!

Well, diverting way away from the intensity of love, since I just don't wanna go there on this site.. lol.....

I came up with Intense Chase, intense speed, fighting, sci-fi.

The Sparrow fighters were modeled in Rhino last night. The little drones were too, but I only saved nurbs from the bigger ones. So I modeled those and brought them into Bryce, all the rest is Bryce, no post.

You can see a nurb shot of the sparrow fighter model here.

It's wonderful to see some new faces this month!  We have a number of linked images this month, so be sure to look at them all.  It's time to let the voting begin!  The voting will be in this thread, after this entry.  You get to choose your 3 favorite entries, giving each of them 3, 2 or 1 points.  Remember, you are choosing an entry, not an artist.  If someone has posted more than one entry, you need to indicate which is your choice.

Your vote should look something like this:

SoVery - "Intense" - 3 points
No - "Pressure" - 2 points
Heavy - "Duty" - 1 point

Feel free to nominate Honorable Mentions or make comments.

many unusual takes on INTENSITY!  I was impressed by the quality of the

entries and the passion of the inspiration.

Here is the count:

Tied for fifth place, with 1 point:  three_grrr's 'Sunset' and TwoPynts

'Radiant Matter'

In fourth place, with 6 points:  weezerhopw's 'Intense Chase'

In third place, with 7 points:  Mindbendermind's 'Intensity'

In second place, with 9 points:  Jellybone's 'Frozen Canal'

In first place, with 18 points:  melikia's 'Joyful Abandon'

Cheers for everyone who entered!  You all did a fantastic job.

Well, so that we can get next month's started ASAP (i cant wait to see entries!)....

I was kinda thinking...

Future (im)Perfect....

Imagine a future (doesn't have to be far future) that, on the surface, appears perfect.  but, as we all know, even the most perfect -looking apple can hide a core that is rotten.  The challenge is to portray this "rot" beneath the surface of a future society/city/person/alien/ship - whatever you can come up with.  It can be political rot (hehehe), physical rot, or just the seedier side of life... whatever floats your boat ;)

Sound ok?

Thank you for all the votes, everyone... huuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs

There is a new challenge which has a few days to go, FUTURE (IM)PERFECT, which you will find at the above link.  You are very welcome to join in there as well.
