Subject: Vue 6 Infinite Crashes when starting.

koonak ( ) posted Mon, 09 March 2009 at 12:27 PM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 10:28 AM

Hello,
When starting Vue 6 it crashes right after the splash screen, It was working ok until I accidently unplugged the power cord and without realizing it my laptop was running on batteries until it died . Once I realized what happened and plugging it back in Vue would not work. I uninstalled it and installed it again with no luck. I cleaned the registry, window, and any other place I could find of all Vue and Eon files. I also tried 2 different restore points. And I uninstalled and cleaned out any new programs that may have conflicted with it. And still it crashes at or right after the splash screen. I am using Vista home 32-64 bit. 4 gig ram, amd x2 dual core. After over a year of no inspiration and no creating my muse came back with a vengence last week and the work has been awesome so it's a bit frustrating. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
                          Thank you!

Hm, strange. There are Vue xx .reg files in your windows folder.

Try to delete those, maybe it will work.

I had a similar issue when going from a demo to a full version with it telling me it is in demo mode ect.

Thank you for your reply! i tried that first off. I deleted any and all files related to Vue and Eon ftom windows and registry. i just figured out it is a MSVCR80.dll error. can't seem to find a solution yet.

You clobbered Windows, not Vue.  Do the usual defrag and checkdisk stuff.  Hopefully, you did not delete registries that Windows itself needs.  You may be able to do a system restore to before the power-off date (works about 25% of the time).

Or you can find what you need here and replace it or add it. Works for alot of games.

Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it. Nothing I have tried works. So until it gets figured out I installed my old Vue 4. :(  To be honest the majority of my better work came from Vue 4. I did just find something out though. I have two 1tb external hard drives I use for back ups. When I lost the display panel on my last notebook I was able to transfer all my vue and poser files to them. I moved the complete poser6 directery from the program folder so I could copy whatever files I need back into the new notebook. Just for a hoot I clicked on the poser6 exe in the backup HD and poser started up and works great. I did not expect that. I had Poser 7 installed on my notebook but it doesn't work well at all. Freezes up as soon as you touch anything. Anyway, I am going to install Vue on one of the external drives and see what happens. It's worth a try. Thanks again for all of your help! Sorry this note ended up so long winded. LOL!

I got the C++ files re-installed again one time by installing modo, DAZ Studio, or Supreme Commander.
