Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
Well to be honest, I would like a database but if you can manipulate the content as well I'll take it. I've only got 21gigs of stuff and I know that there are ppl out there that have much much more than I do and to be honest my little bit of stuff really gets me frustrated because I really don't know what is in what. I like to SEE what's really in the files. I'm in the process of creating external runtimes which I think will help but a database of everything in the files would be great.
I should have been more specific when I firts posted, sorry about that.
The two apps are not doing the same thing, so it might not be unreasonable to have both.
P3dO will enable you to browse your libraries in a much freer way, and you can even load stuff into Poser from there using PoserPython. It will give you information about the items in a 3D way, but not info like the author, or what the terms of use are. If those things are important to you, you really need a separate database.
I like P3dO and use it regularly; PzDB won't work for me so I can't comment on it.
Actually I've got both P3dO Pro and PzDB(trial). Of both, I like P3dO best. Now PzDB is a good program but I find that it won't work with older DAZ products as they don't have a png file for it to see so you're missing a lot of thumbnails were as P3dO reads just about everything to include obj. files I found that if you click on an obj file P3dO will come up with the object pic and render it, granted it's not textured but you can actually see what the object is. I don't know if the free version of P3dO has this capability but I know the Pro has and I bought Pro.
I was just curious as what ppl were using for their databases. I know they just about have to have something other than relying on their runtimes folders thats why I asked.
P3d0 works best for me when I need to look at the big picture within my runtimes. It is reliable for identification purposes. However, I have found that the trial version is prone to crashing when examining large runtimes. It does well with smaller files. There is a separate thread here in the forum critiquing the PzDB software which you may find it useful for your final assessment. Of course, if you are only interested in creating a database of your content with links and site images, then perhaps 3D Content @ DAZ3D may work for you. There is an improved version. The original did have rather inherent problems internal linking, database upgrading (performed the upgrading and corrupted the file), and losing record data when the db file approached 3 - 5 GB. The program core is based on the software by Brilliant Database, which is IMO vastly superior.

I'm trying o determine which is best to use as a database for poser. If you happen to use one of these please help me out. Let me know which one use use and why u use it. Maybe I'm missing something.
