Subject: The continuing problems with ecosystems....

FCLittle ( ) posted Thu, 12 March 2009 at 6:44 PM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 4:54 PM

I really do hate coming to these forums to talk about the huge faults to this program I love so much, but there's really nowhere else I can vent.  My question is, have they fixed the problems with ecosytems yet?  I'm pretty sure I have Vue 7 infinite's most recent update, but I dont see any change to the problems of ecosytems.  I'm so tired of not being able to undo anything because it'll mean my ecosytems with disappear.  And now I'm finding other odd ways that this happens.  I've been working on a picture for a while now, without any problem to the ecosystem, but for some reason now when I render the picture, they disappear.  They're there before I render.  They're there if I select the terrain and look at it.  But the moment I render, they're gone.  I'm so tired of this.
Again, I'm sorry to come here so angry but this really is driving me nuts.

Make sure you didn't accidentaly click on the object icon in the world browser, thus hiding it from render.

No, that's not it.  The terrain's there, but the ecosystems are deleted....has this happened to you?  I mean, can you undo without having them disappear?  I always feel like you dont have the same problems I do.

Regarding the undo thing, I also have it (only when I'm ecopainting) but I just imagine Vue doesn't have undo and I just don't use it whenever I'm working with ecopaint. I even put the undo at zero in the options, saving some resources in the process. It doesn't bother me, quite frankly, I learned to live with it. I'm very adaptable... :-) Why fight with something you can't win? If you can't beat'em... :-)

Well, I've learned how to live without the undo as well, but come on, why should we have to learn to live without something?  They should fix the problem.  But aside from that, I just noticed that the ecosystem in question somehow replaced one plant with another and that that is what's causing this problem.  Oh well, I'm done being angry, I'll just redo it.  Luckily it wont take long with this picture.....

Because I'm happier that way. Constantly fighting and feeling frustrated with something makes me feel unhappy. I don't like to be unhappy. So, I adapt and I'm happy. It's just a way of going through life.

I'm not trying to tell you you're wrong for adapting, not at all, I just think that a good product should be fixed when there are problems.  That's all.  I agree, it's better not to be frustrated, but at the same time, if a program has a problem, the makers of that program should address it.  I'm sure they are trying to fix it.  Actually, I live just a few miles from Beaverton, I should go see what the deal is....hehe....

I fully agree. E-on should have fixed this by now, it's an ugly bug. But since there's nothing we can do about it, there's no benefit in feeling frustrated and angry. :-)

Yes, why don't you go there? Join a few friends and organize a demonstration! :-)

I was assured that the ecos 'disappearing act' is fixed and will be included in the next  update for complete which should be out 'very shortly'. (but then I was promised that twice before, so I'm not holding my breath). I imagine if it will be fixed for complete it will be fixed for infinite as well.

Oh good, I'm glad to hear that they're aware of the problem and are fixing it....

There is an update to complete out now in which they claim this bug is 'improved' . I hope they mean fixed. So does that mean a bug is fixed for complete before its fixed for infinite?  that will be a turn for the books:)
