Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 11 3:50 am)
Well, first of all Poser is not a modelling program. It's a program that allows 3D object to be manipulated. In fact its original purpose was to allow you to pose a figure, do a render and then use the rendered image to draw/paint from. It allowed an artist the ability to have a posed figure without having to hire a model to pose for them.
The drawings that you are creating, are they regular people / props in various poses? Or are they unique characters?
If they are just people in various poses, you can use any of the human models available for Poser to pose them, dress them, change the skin texture, change the shape etc.
However, if what you are wanting to do are unique characters out of your own head, that requires you to invest in a 3D modelling program and learn how to model, which is no easy feat and takes months and even years to master.
"It is good to see ourselves as
others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi
clay, the usual way to do that is to import the pencil sketch as background image, then open an advanced figure (e.g. apollo, v4, m4) over that. move it around and resize it until it lines up with the drawing. philc has a rotoscope util in which one lines up front and side views of the sketch or image.
Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, there might be morphs for figures already out there that may fit your needs. How ever be careful some content creators (free and paid) may not allow use for commercial products.

I have some drawings that I want to model in 3D. New to poser. are there any good tutorials out there that will help with posing from a pencil drawing. I am designing some characters for t-shirts and would like to have them in 3D so I can use them in a number of poses and settings.
