Rosie, My understanding...Poser usually is a clean install. Whatever extras you had in the prior one may not be available in the new install unless you re-install them to it. Daz Studio is a totally different animal which likes to pass itself off as totally Poser comparable. It is able to conduct itself within compatibility reason but often we need to make refinements. Hopefully someone with a broader understanding between these two packages will come forth.

Rosie, do yourself a favour, hold off buying Bryce 6 until the end of March, Bryce users have been promised a word on the future of Bryce in the first quarter of this year. It has't happened yet, but Dan Farr (Daz3D) has untill the end of March. It also might be a prelude to any updates of bug fixes.
For me, if Dan Farr isn't forthcoming by the end of march, I am going to go ahead and buy Vue instead of spending my saved cash on a new Bryce.

As for your question, DazStudio is more compatable with Bryce (even though some still get errors) so it's a better choice, but if you do have Poser, there is no problem which ever way you install stuff.

Daz studio is integrated into Bryce 5.5, so probably into 6 as well. I've heard that some of the later versions of D|S don't play well with Bryce, but don't know that for sure.

It's a shame, but about 2 weeks ago they were selling Poser 6 at Smith Micro (I think) for about $20-30 bucks. These things always happen when I'm broke...;)

I use Daz and Bryce6.1..and don't have Poser installed anymore...when you install any poser stuff into daz it puts the poser.exe in the prog.
I also use Daz   v. 2.3.3.146  ( I think its the newest stable release) and it works perfectly with Bryce 6...

A version of DAZ studio will work with either Bryce 5 or 6. On the other hand animating materials got busted in Bryce 6 and hasn't been fixed yet. If you just have to have the ability to export your booleans or if you want all the extra materials then I'd go for Bryce 6. If you wan't to pose and change within your Bryce scene or even run animations I'd stay with 5.5.

Poser has never been integrated with Bryce though a fellow called conan sold something called easypose that worked way back in Bryce 5. The advantage of using poser is mainly the characters you get with the purchase.

its great to have bryce 6.1  and daz working together. u might even think about getting aniMate. i move daz figures and daz animation into bryce via the daz plugin without any problems. it works great. daz has some really cool animation gizmos too that really make it a gas. while i'm totally sold on daz and bryce my favorite program in the whole universe is poser. in my opinion it is stand alone. i get poser stuff into daz but it's not super easy. most daz downloads download themselves az daz features and as poser items too and they work well in both programs. backgrounds made with bryce scenes work great in poser and it's easy to use poser ground as a shadow catcher that will make your poser figures appear as if they're all part of the same scene. it's also a blast to use animations made with daz and bryce as background animtions in poser with everything working quite smoothly together. believe me it's a little work but for the artistic adventure of a lifetime you are headed in the right direction.
