Subject: Reading image metadata in Windows XP

Does anyone know if Windows XP has a built-capability (namely through something like Windows Explorer, or an add-on from Microsoft) to read and search metadata embedded in images via Bridge or Photoshop? This is a function we ideally we would like open up to all staff, the majority of whom, of course, don't have any Adobe apps.

Thanks,
Scott

i know MS has a little program (part of the "Power Toys") that handle metadata display for RAW files called "RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer for XP".

i haven't used it so i'm not sure how it handles other image formats (i use Bridge to search metadata)

outside of the PowerToys, i can't think of any add-ons for MS but i'll take a look

there used to be a little app called "Photo Info" from MS but can't find in on their site, it points to the wonderfully useful "FILE NOT FOUND" page....

it looks like all the little tools MS had, have been rolled into their Pro Power Tools 2 program.

I have XP Pro, Service pack 3, and can right click/Properties/summary/advanced and see whatever info is there. Hovering over the file name will pop up an info box with some of the info, too  Also, Irfanview (free) www.irfanview.net/ will read all the information.

Here's a great little progy I've used that extracts all photo info and it's freeware.
