Subject: Poser 7 .AVI, .SWF exporting problem (Vista)

JustMcCollum ( ) posted Sat, 28 March 2009 at 5:32 PM · edited Fri, 15 November 2024 at 6:27 AM

Yes, hello. I bought Poser 7 about 2 years ago, and Poser 7 was probably not compatible with Windows Vista because I am trying to export movies, but unfortunately, a warning comes up and says, "Error loading amovie.ocx, the specified module could not be found."

There is one probable solution.

  • AVI won't export due to opening with Windows Media Player.

If that is the case, is there a way I can edit some script to open with another program?

If not, how can I fix this problem of exporting videos?

Not an answer to your question. but you could render out image sequences (tiff or png) to your movie editor app and ctreate your movie there.  Image sequence is the prefered way to do this.

This sidesteps your issue with being unable to render to video fdirect from Poser as well.

Yes, but the images do not seem to have any textures applied to the figure or the scene. This is a  example, follow the link

I misunderstood your question. I thought your problem was rendering an video from Poser.

Perhaps someone who has seen this before can answer better.

amovie.ocx is a windows component. If you have it, it would probably be in the WindowsSystem32 folder - that's on XP - not sure if it exists in Vista or the location. At any rate, it sounds like Poser is calling it and it either doesn't exist or hasn't been registered with the system for some reason.

If no one here has an answer then Smith Micro is probably your best shot.

You can take a look at this solution  www.bytescribe.com/support/index.php (for a different application than Poser). Reinstalling media player might work or the second fix if you do have the .ocx on your system. Use at your own risk though, I know nothing about Vista and security may prevent you from even registering the control. If you try it as a last resort, set a restore point first or better back up your system just in case.

Make sure you have the latest service release for Poser 7. A standard windows update that I received quite a long time ago fixed this issue when it occurred on my vista system way back then. I also installed Indeo which was the advise I got from Jepe, a vendor here at R'osity, my problem with this was solved with one windows update, though. You can find amovie.ocx on the net but where I couldn't tell you, it's been a long time since I have seen someone post about this issue... sorry, I just don't remember. Jepe is a good person for this question, I believe. You might try to Instant Message him, he is a prompt and courteous individual.

Also make sure you have your Media Player updated and you may want to go to Download.com and grab the Codec Package for Media Player. In Vista, it ships with very few Codecs included.
